Youth United Day

FC United recently sent invitations to over 400 schools, clubs and organisations across Greater Manchester inviting them to take part in next month's "Youth United Day" at Gigg Lane.

The exciting event coincides with the FC United v Formby home game where we plan to host a number of exciting activities for young people to come and enjoy the day. These activities include music, arts, theatre, sport and other fun sessions aimed at young people, and we would be delighted if any group, club or school you have contact with is represented.

Youth United Day follows on from the successful People United Day back in October, and came about in consultation with supporters - especially the Junior Supporters Group - about how to take the idea forward and make it bigger and better in the future.

That first meeting brought some great ideas to the table about what our younger supporters would like to see on the day, and over the past few months the club have been turning the ideas into reality to make sure that it is a great day for everyone involved.

Since then schools, junior football clubs and other community organisations from across Greater Manchester have come on board, all keen to be involved and help make the day a success.

Over the last year the club has invested heavily in community development and participation and the atmosphere at the games is second to none, attracting families and especially young people, who make up a significant proportion of our membership. Youth United Day is a way of encouraging other families and their friends to come and experience this for themselves.

In celebration of our back to back championships, this game will be an U18s free day. There will be a number of workshops free to children on the day. These include, a rap workshop, theater workshop, banner making and face painting. The workshops will take at Holycross College, Manchester Road, Bury (located near to the Pack Horse). Workshops will take place from 1230 to 1430 enabling our supports and families to get to the ground in time for the 3 o'clock kickoff.

The day is being organised in partnership with United Co-operatives, MANCAT, Smokefree Bury and Brook Manchester, who have all been encouraged by our aim of providing an affordable and entertaining day out for families and young people.

The invitation to get involved in the day is open to schools, youth clubs, football teams - everyone that wants to be involved would be made more than welcome! If you would like to know more about the day please contact Vinny Thompson on 07792 833 086 or via email at vinnythompson@fc-utd.co.uk.

Thank you for your support of Youth United Day.
