Gary Lowe commits his future to Curzon

The season may only just be over, but Curzon Ashton manager Gary Lowe is already busy working on putting together a new squad following the clubs promotion into the UniBond, a competition which they exited ten years ago.

Lowe, who took over the reins at the then National Park at the start of season 2000/01, has been given the resources to make sure that Curzon will be more than a team there to merely make the numbers up, and been made aware that he has at least three years in which to make Curzon a major player at that level.

Curzon Chief Executive, Harry Twamley, said "We spoke to Gary immediately after the end of the season and discussed with him his plans, not only for next season, but beyond.

"When we appointed him we said then that we wanted stability in the managerial position, and that was seven years ago, so that stability has been well and truly established at our current level. We now intend to do likewise as we move up, and Gary will be our manager.

"All too often team’s chop-and-change their manager which results in players coming and going and some indifferent performances follow on the pitch as a result of this. Some of the lads have been with us as long as Gary so the decision to keep him in place for this length of time has brought about to a large extent stability on the pitch too."

The club have had an incredible season. Apart from gaining promotion they also got through to the final of the D-Zine League Challenge Cup and had an incredible run to the Semi-Final of The FA Carlsberg Vase, and to top it off their second team have assured themselves of promotion into the Mid-Cheshire First Division. Several of the second team squad have come through to play for the first XI during the season, and many of that squad have progressed through the junior system within the Club.

Twamley finished by saying "We have one of the best stadiums around, a facility which we had to work for over a decade to achieve, and one that we believe will be second to none in the UniBond. It’s now up to Gary to put together a team to match. There is a new challenge ahead for us all, and Gary will be very much part of that."
