Youth Team aim to end on a high

FC United’s Youth Team play the final game of their inaugural season this Sunday at 2.30pm against Marine ‘A’ at St Brides Fields, Shrewsbury St, where entry is free for all supporters.

The Under-18s team were established last summer as part of FC United’s commitment to encourage local youngsters to participate in football, both playing and supporting, a principle that is enshrined in the club’s constitution.

The team have achieved mid-table respectability in the extremely competitive North West Youth Alliance Premier Division and manager Chris Simms has high hopes of improving on that next season. Highlights have included emphatic 4-0 and 5-1 victories over Daisy Hill and Prescot Cables respectively.

The last time the Youth Team met this weekend’s opponents they were on the wrong end of a 7-2 drubbing, so they will be keen to avenge that this Sunday and end the season on a high.
