Contract News: Luke Griffiths

We are delighted to announce that following discussions, and having had interest from outside the club, we have this evening agreed terms with Luke Griffiths to sign a contract with FC United.

Following the lessons from previous seasons, and to allow us to operate within our sustainable model, this season we took the decision to only offer contracts in very specific circumstances where players met a number of criteria.

Luke has met those criteria and therefore it became a priority for the club to get him on a contract. It’s a statement of our ambition and wanting to keep hold of the very best players in the league, to allow them to develop with us and fulfill their true potential.

Delighted Manager Neil Reynolds said: "It gives me enormous pleasure to be able to announce that Luke has decided to sign a contract and commit his future to the club, we’ve been trying to get this deal over the line for the last three weeks. Naturally Luke’s attracted a lot of attention from other clubs higher up the pyramid than FC but we’ve talked to him a lot over the last few weeks and he’s decided that his future lies here.

From the first day he came in at pre-season he’s just lit things up, his attitude is impeccable, he’s a real favourite in the dressing room and his performances have certainly done the talking so it’s incredibly pleasing.

Everyone in the dressing room came in on non-contract basis and the club said, if we believe you’re an asset you’ll earn a contract and Luke and Tunde have certainly done that."

In response Luke said "When I found out that FC wanted to offer me a contract I was absolutely delighted, the belief shown in me by Reno, the coaching staff and everyone behind the scenes has been perfect.

I’ve loved every minute my time here and I want to see how high we can go as a team, as a family and as a club"
