Contract News: Tunde Owolabi

Contract News: Tunde OwolabiWe are delighted to announce that following a couple of weeks of discussions, and having had interest from outside the club, we have this evening agreed terms with Tunde Owolabi, the leagues leading goalscorer, to sign a contract with FC United.

Following the lessons from previous seasons, and to allow us to operate within our sustainable model, this season we took the decision to only offer contracts in very specific circumstances where players met a number of criteria.

Tunde has met those criteria and therefore it became a priority for the club to get him on a contract. It’s a statement of our ambition and wanting to keep hold of the very best players in the league, to allow them to develop with us and fulfill their true potential.

On signing Tunde said "Since day one when I came to FC United I’ve felt at home, and the support I’ve had from the Manager, the coaching staff, the team and the fans has been incredible; it’s allowed me to settle down and play my football and I’m just happy to be part of this family. Everyone is going in the right direction and I want to be part of where this club is going, I want to help this club continue to do well, to score goals and to win games and hopefully push on because we can do something special this season".

Reno added "After two weeks of discussions, and thanks must go to Tunde’s father for the support he’s given us, we’re delighted to say we’ve signed Tunde on a contract. He’s bought into the philosophy of the club, and for me as a manager you want your best players committed to the club, we’ve got a plan here and Tunde knows that plan so delighted to get it over the line."

You can see Tunde in action next on Saturday, in our FA Trophy game against Basford United at Broadhurst Park, kick off 3pm.
