SQUAD NEWS: Mike Potts

SQUAD NEWS: Mike PottsWe are absolutely delighted that Mike Potts (27) will be FC United’s Captain next season.

Potts, who played under Neil Reynolds at Bamber Bridge, signed for FC United in October 2018 and was named as captain for Reno’s first game in charge. Having scored on his debut, Potts was instrumental in a resurgence in form in early November and became a instant favourite with the fans.

In early January Potts was advised that he needed to undergo a hernia operation which ruled him out of eleven matches at a crucial stage of the season. Potts returned to the starting eleven as Captain for the remaining four matches of the season.

Neil Reynolds said “To have the opportunity to work with Pottsy again really excites me. He is the Captain of FC United and leads by example both on and off the pitch. This is a huge statement for the club. Hopefully Pottsy can remain injury free and have a really successful season. There have been clubs queuing up for his signature, but he has loved his time at FC and wants to help us reignite success into the club.”

Potts said “I want to get back to winning ways and help get us promoted. It’s a privilege to be back at such a great club and I’m buzzing to be back. I’m getting back to full fitness after my hernia operation, and want to be ready to make a flying start at the beginning of the new season”
