FC United welcomes Brian Richardson as Assistant Manager

FC United welcomes Brian Richardson as Assistant Manager

We are delighted to welcome Brian Richardson to the club, to fill the vacant Assistant Manager’s position.

Richardson joins FC United having been Manager at Prescot Cables (of the Northern Premier League West Division) since October 2016. Prior to joining Prescot he was Assistant Manager at Skelmersdale United, where he had worked for ten years. In his playing days, Brian was a professional with Blackpool FC.

Of the appointment FC Manager Neil Reynolds said; “I am delighted that Brian has decided to join FC United as my Assistant Manager. Brian’s experience at this level can only benefit myself and the management team. I get on really well with Brian both personally and professionally and I’m really looking forward to working with him.

“His knowledge at this level is exceptional and has a proven track record of recruiting and developing players. It is going to be a really exciting summer, building a new team that will successfully compete in the Northern Premier League. With Brian now firmly part of the management team, he will be a welcome addition and a crucial part in the next stage of our journey.”

In Richardson’s first season in charge at Prescot they won the Liverpool Senior Cup for the first time in their history beating Southport 2–0. The following season, Cables defied the odds to finish 5th in the league qualifying them for a place in the promotion play-offs. Having defeated Trafford 3-0 in the semi-final they lost the final 1-0 to Neil Reynolds’ Bamber Bridge side. They did, however, successfully defend their Liverpool Senior Cup title after a 4–0 win away at Marine in the final.

Last season (2018/19) Prescot narrowly missed out on a play-off spot finishing 7th in the league but reached the final of the Liverpool Senior Cup for the fourth year running, losing on penalties against Southport.

Over the coming weeks, as Neil Reynolds builds his team for next season, we will be making further announcements regarding the squad.

We are encouraging supporters to buy Season Tickets, TMTBs and Membership at the earliest convenience to help the club plan for the next season. For more details and links to buy on line please click on the link below.
