SUNDAY'S MATCH ARRANGEMENTS & NEW LICENCING AGREEMENT: FC United v Tamworth

SUNDAY’S MATCH ARRANGEMENTS & NEW LICENCING AGREEMENT: FC United v TamworthOn Sunday 24th September, kick off 3pm, FC United welcome Tamworth to Broadhurst Park in the National League North - Admission is pay on the gate: £10 Adults, £6 Concessions and £3 u/18s.

The match will be played on Sunday due to the original date of Saturday 23rd September clashing with Manchester City’s home game against Crystal Palace. Supporters may remember that early last season, we came to an arrangement with Manchester City Council whereby we were able to play home games at the same time as Manchester City. However, we have since been informed that the department who made this decision did not necessarily have the authority to do so, and the decision has for the time being been reversed.

We would like to reassure supporters that the club has amended the lease condition in the hope of coming to an arrangement similar to the one agreed upon last season, and this is currently with the council’s legal department. We thank our fans in advance for their understanding on this issue.

FC United got back to winning ways on Tuesday night with a 6-2 win over Handsworth Parramore in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. In the next round, taking place on Saturday 30th September, we make a short trip to Stockport County.

In the league, we have lost our last four matches and sees us sitting second from bottom on just 7 points. In previous seasons a good cup win has helped kick-start a run of wins, most notably in 2010 where a 5-2 FA Cup win against Norton and Stockton Ancients saw us winning the next 5 matches; and also in 2014 where after a poor start to the season saw two injury time goals to beat Barwell in the FA Trophy and subsequent run of 5 league wins and eventually finishing the season 2nd in the league.

Sunday’s opponents Tamworth currently sit 5th in the league on 20 points and have only lost 3 of their opening 11 matches.

So get yourselves down to Broadhurst Park on Sunday afternoon and cheer the lads on, in the hope we can emulate the winning runs of 2010 and 2014.

Player News: Matty Hughes and Michael Connor both miss Sunday’s match on a one match suspension having both been dismissed for two yellow card offences away at Darlington on 13th September. Craig Lindfield is a doubt with a hamstring injury.

We are delighted to welcome Kallum Mantack on a one month loan from Oldham Athletic. Last season he joined Alfreton Town on loan for 5 months and played against FC at Broadhurst Park for Alfreton last October.

Midfielder James Hooper has left the club to sign for Radcliffe Borough.

Match Ball and Programme - Cresta Cars

At Broadhurst Park this Sunday we have an unusual sponsor – the British Sidecar Speedway Championship, which has its fourth and final round taking place at 7pm on Saturday 14th October at the National Speedway Stadium, Belle Vue, Kirkmanshulme Lane, Gorton, Manchester, M12 4WB.

One of the 1,000cc mean machines will be parked outside the ground on Sunday for FC fans to take a closer look at just how brave/mad you have to be to compete on such a vehicle, especially the passenger, whose head is usually only a few frightening inches above the circuit as the sidecar powers round the bends.

Mark Cossar from Rugby, who is currently top of the leaderboard, said: “We are very proud to be associated with FC United because of it being run by its members and for the hard work it does with its local community. In sidecars, we are very competitive, but ultimately one big family that first and foremost loves the sport. We are all really looking forward to racing at such a great track at Belle Vue, where there is plenty of room for our big machines. We’d love to see some FC supporters there???.

British Sidecar Speedway Championships have also kindly donated two pairs of tickets to Belle Vue on 14th October, which will be added to our Pound for the Ground half-time draw.

The Main Stand Function Room Bar will serve hot food together with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks before, during and after the match.
