Women's team to play end-of-season charity match at Broadhurst Park in May

Women’s team to play end-of-season charity match at Broadhurst Park in MayFC United is pleased to announce an end of season charity match and family fun day on Bank Holiday Monday, 2 May 2016, that will see the women’s team move inside Broadhurst Park from their usual spot outside on the 3G pitch.

The club was approached by Wallasey Athletic LFC to host a replay of the 2014 fixture held at Stockport County’s Edgeley Park ground when FC United lost 4-1 albeit with a makeshift team.

Kate Ramsey, board member with responsibility for women’s football, said: “We have always intended to give all our squads the chance to play on the main pitch and are regularly asked by supporters, members and local residents when the women will get their first run out. This event promises to be a fantastic experience for the players and a great way to showcase women’s football at Broadhurst Park. I am delighted that we have this to look forward to at the end of the season.???

Jess Beech of Wallasey Athletic LFC said: “We are delighted that FC United of Manchester can accommodate and join us in this fantastic opportunity to raise awareness of, and more importantly funds for, the local charity we are supporting this year. It is going to be a great day for everyone involved, players and supporters alike. I’m sure that both teams will make this a game to remember. Although it is a friendly, once the whistle goes for kick off we are expecting a good competitive game from FC as we beat them last time out.???

Further details about the event will be announced once they are finalised.
