FC United aim to silence the Lambs of Tamworth

This Saturday Tamworth are the visitors to Broadhurst Park, with FC United still looking for their first points of the season.

Whilst the Reds have suffered narrow defeats to Gloucester City and Stockport County, the Lambs have won both their opening fixtures at Worcester City and at home to North Ferriby United. As such, the visitors, who finished seventh last season, are expected to give Karl Marginson’s side another tough game as they adapt to life in the Vanarama National League North.

On Tuesday night, the Reds worked hard and never looked outclassed by a Stockport outfit that’s likely to be challenging for promotion at the end of the season.

Margy took a number of positives from the game, not least that chances were created against a very strong and well organised defence. But he also knows that his players need to be more ruthless, especially after taking the lead.

Margy said: "Today’s game offers us another stiff test. Tamworth have had a good start to the season with two wins and after a solid finish last season they will be looking for promotion.

"They have some good players, including Elliott Durrell who we know from his Hednesford days, and a manager who knows all about non-league and who will be doing all he can to get his team back to the level above.

"I also wanted to say a word about the amazing atmosphere on Tuesday night. It was a credit to everyone, including our ground designers who have created a stadium with acoustics that hold in the sound to brilliant effect. It was fantastic on Tuesday and at times it made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. I hope our supporters can do more of the same today."

FC United of Manchester versus Tamworth is this Saturday at Broadhurst Park at the traditional and supporter friendly time of three o’clock. It’s pay on the gate, so get yourself to our football ground.
