Stockport County tickets update

Supporters will be aware that following consultations with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) the Stockport County game has been designated as an all-ticket match with segregation in place and police in attendance. The safety authorities have reduced our ground capacity to 3,500 for this game and Stockport’s allocation is 500.

It is an unfortunate twist of the fixture list that our first competitive game is against the one club likely to attract the biggest crowd. Our plans for ticketing and matchday operations at our new ground are being put to the stiffest test at a very early stage. We ask for the patience and understanding of all our supporters as our staff and volunteers deal with the heavy demand for tickets.

Our match safety operations and planning for this game are under high levels of scrutiny from the SAG and though we are not expecting any issues surrounding this match it is important that we follow their guidance and advice and ensure that the evening passes off with the minimum of hitches. For us to gain an increase in ground capacity beyond the current 3,500 the authorities need to have full confidence in our operation of Broadhurst Park.

The segregation and ticketing in place for the Wrexham match on 1 August satisfied the SAG that we have the correct approach and systems. For the Stockport match we have the added complication of a full police presence. The costs of policing the Stockport match will be in the region of £5,000 and we will have potential additional costs for safety staff. If Tuesday passes off without any major problems and the SAG are satisfied then we anticipate the rest of our league fixtures will go ahead without the need for either police or segregation.

Segregation needs to be maintained to the satisfaction of the SAG and the sale of tickets in the home sections will remain restricted to current FC United members who are not in possession of a season ticket.

Tickets will not be going on general sale nor will we be selling additional tickets to members or season ticket holders.

We are expecting a crowd of more than 3,000 for this match and we ask for the help of all supporters on Tuesday evening in complying with the requests of stewards and FC staff and volunteers.
