Quartet of signings boosts FC United squad ahead of the new season

FC United manager Karl Marginson has boosted his squad with a number of new signings in readiness for the start of his side’s new season in the Vanarama National League North.

Attacking midfielder Sean Cooke, who played for Telford last season, has joined the club. "He’s an attacking midfielder with an eye for goal who will bring some extra creativity to the side,” said Margy, who is keen to add to the team’s goals-for column and sees Cooke, who has also played for Nantwich and Fylde, as contributing to that.

Adam Thurston, who has played at Fylde for the past couple of years, has also joined the club. A full back or midfielder, Thurston started off as a junior at Manchester United so comes with a good pedigree. Also joining FC is Cameron Murray whose tricky wing play has impressed during United’s pre-season matches. "A very intelligent footballer with fantastic potential," according to his new manager, Murray finished last season at Scarborough and was previously at York.

Forward Sam Madeley has also arrived at Broadhurst Park after spending last season at Salford City. “Sam is a hard-working attacking player who has a proven goalscoring record and will add to our attacking options,” said Margy.

Elsewhere, Greg Wilkinson, who appeared in a number of FC United’s pre-season friendlies, has received an offer from AFC Telford that was too good to refuse and he’ll be playing for them next season.
