FC United Women to play first game at Broadhurst Park this Sunday - main bar open

FC United’s women’s team play their first ever game at Broadhurst Park this Sunday, 12 July, when they entertain Brighouse Town Ladies in a pre-season friendly on the 3G pitch with a kick off time of 2pm. Due to the cancellation of a function, we are pleased to announce that the main stand bar will be open from 1pm until shortly after the game.

Women’s football has been hitting the headlines recently with the success of the England national team in winning a bronze medal at the World Cup in Canada. If you’ve been inspired by the success of the national side in Canada then Sunday is your chance to get your local fix of women’s football right here at Broadhurst Park.

The FC women’s team won the league title and the league cup last season and will play the coming season in the North West Women’s Regional League Division 1. The other teams in their league are Ellesmere Port Town, Mersey Girls, AFC Urmston Meadowside, Altrincham Ladies, Woolton, Liverpool Marshalls Feds Reserves, AFC Liverpool Ladies, Mersey Rail Bootle, Warrington Wolverines and Winsford. So, a lot of travelling to Merseyside then!

Brighouse Town Ladies finished last season in second place in the North East Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division, so FC’s women are likely to face a stiff test from a team one league above their level. Lee Sutton’s side will be keen to show they can compete against higher league opposition in their first outing at Broadhurst Park and supporters are encouraged to turn up this Sunday to cheer on the team.

Get yourself to that football ground!
