Margy delighted as current FC United squad signs on for new season

FC United manager Karl Marginson is delighted to announce all but one player of last year’s championship-winning first team squad have signed up for the forthcoming new season in the Vanarama National League North.

Everyone has re-signed for another year except for Joe Fox, who has left the club to seek regular first team football elsewhere. Meanwhile, midfielder Nicky Platt has rejoined the club for a second time following a change in his work career having qualified as a physio. He returns to the club and will turn out if and when needed.

Reacting to the news, manager Karl Marginson said: “I’m delighted that last year’s playing squad have taken the opportunity to commit to the club for another season. Our first year in a new league promises to be another landmark season in the club’s history and it’s great to be able to continue to work with such a great squad and backroom staff.

"I know we all need a rest after such a long, hard season, but I can’t wait to get started for the new campaign and I know that all our supporters are already looking forward to the home friendly against Wrexham (Saturday 1 August).”

Margy also revealed that he is following up a number of leads with a view to strengthening the squad. He said: “As always, we will look to strengthen our playing resources in areas where we can improve but I’m not in any hurry as we know that the current squad of players is more than capable of competing at the higher level.”

Further announcements and updates will be made in due course.
