Stamford game sees another record Development Fund collection

Another great crowd for FC United’s home game against Stamford on 18 April saw an amazing £1,739 raised for the club’s Development Fund, the highest matchday total of the season so far.

Our Pound for the Ground sellers sold a magnificent 1,130 tickets in the spring sunshine and after deducting £200 for the winner, £930 went into the DF. There were three winning tickets:

8194 won the £200 first prize and the winner has very generously donated the money back to the DF
7644 won the Fudge Village hamper, which will be posted out to Simon
9049 took the breakfast for two at Bogart Hole cafe

The Barrel collection was yet another season record of £809 thanks to the following donations. Tim, over from Spain for a few games, very kindly swapped all our bags of Euros at a very good exchange rate, for £335. Ray swapped our US dollars, again at a top rate, for £60. Sue liked her fudge hamper so much that she gave us a £10 donation. Pat and Christine donated £15, regarding some knitwear for a new baby. A family who travelled on the Rammy Rattler enjoyed the day and donated an extra £20. A very large bag of 20 pences which added up to over £50 (the bag split so we are not sure of the exact amount), plus a superabundance of bags coins and notes which rounded up the brilliant final total.

All in all, the DF gained a grand total of £1,739 from the Stamford game, the highest amount we’ve raised at a match so far this season. So, the running total for the Development Fund at home games so far this season now stands at £17,707.

Hopefully, it’s the last round up for the barrels at Tuesday’s Stourbridge game. The contributions however large or small have been heart-warming, and a very big thanks to everyone who has chipped in and made it possible. And, here’s a thought. If everyone in the crowd tomorrow night put say 50p or a £1 into a barrel and buys a draw ticket or two, then who knows what the total would be? So spread the word and let’s see if we can raise £2,000 plus for the DF. It should be doable if almost 3,000 attend the game.
