Garry Vaughan joins FC United as new Football Schools Manager

FC United has announced the appointment of Garry Vaughan as its new Football Schools Manager. Garry will work with the club’s Community Sports Development and Academy manager Paul Bright and his role expands FC United’s provision in the area of schools and youth football.

FC United supporters will recognise Garry as the former manager of Trafford FC. He has also had previous involvement with FC United when he was the reserve team manager.

Commenting on the appointment, FC United manager Karl Marginson, said: “I’m delighted that Garry has agreed to join us. The FC United football schools will be a little different than what is on offer elsewhere. Garry knows FC well and he fully understands the ethos and philosophy of the club and supports what we stand for.

"He brings with him a wealth of experience from developing his ‘GV Soccer Schools’ around the Trafford area which encourage youngsters to take interest in the game. I’m looking forward to working with him and he’s a great addition to our team.???

Paul Bright added: “Bringing Garry on board will allow FC United to provide quality playing and training opportunities for younger players and will create pathways into the club. We have an ambition to strengthen football across the Manchester area and already work with Manchester City Council and Manchester FA and its affiliated clubs and schools.

"We work with some excellent junior clubs and deliver coaching in schools. Moston Juniors will be based at our new ground and we are looking at ways to help them and other junior clubs by offering support to club coaches and officials as well as junior players. More detail will be announced shortly, which will include a clear progression route giving players access to future training pathways to professional and semi-professional football.???

Garry Vaughan said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity to work with young people at FC United. It’s a massive opportunity and I’m sure the role will be beneficial to the club and to the first team. Helping grassroots football improve and flourish is a passion of mine and I can’t wait to get started. I’m really, really looking forward to it.???
