FC makes a mark at Supporters' Summit 2014

This years annual Supporters Summit organised by Supporters Direct took place at Wembley this weekend. Taking place over two days, with the Friday concentrating on Community Owned Clubs (which included a certain Adam Brown running a session) followed later in the day by the AGM’s of both Supporters Direct and the Football Supporters Federation.

Saturday saw the main event begin with upwards of 250 delegates attending with 30 delegates representing football clubs from all over Europe. The role of the FC delegation was two fold, we had offered to volunteer to help out the SD guys with registration and various other tasks throughout the day and we also had an FC United information stand at the event again (this is the second year we’ve done this).

The event opened with a video message from Greg Dyke. There then followed a series of workshops covering everything from Protecting Club Identity, Club Licensing System, Away Fans Matter, Supporters Trusts etc.

Throughout the two days we were bombarded with questions about all aspects of FC United, it really has to be seen to be believed as to just how much high regard we as a football club are held in. All of the merry band of volunteers that attended on behalf of our club felt it was a pleasure to speak to so many people about what we’re doing, what we’ve achieved so far and what we hope to achieve in the future.

The summit will no doubt move onto another venue next year with more ideas being exchanged between clubs/trusts/individuals with a common goal, to make football better for the very people without whom the game would simply not exist, the supporter.

Wherever the Supporters Summit pitches up next year, why not give it a go, stick your FC badge on and I promise people will want to talk to you!
