Moston Welcomes FC United

Young people in Moston are preparing to welcome FC United to our new home at Broadhurst Park.

A Community Development Foundation ’Community First’ grant of £2500 has enabled FC to engage some community artists to work with young people and local residents so that they can play a part in the opening events, and get to know more about the new facilities on their doorstep.

In the first project ’Stories to Music’, song writer and choir leader Beth Allen is working with 30+ children from St Mary’s C E Primary School, our nearest neighbour. They will be creating their own special songs and chants to welcome FC to our new home and join our famed terrace choirs.

Flag maker and FC member Matt Thompson will also be working with groups of young people at Moston Miners’ Community and Arts Centre to create their own unique flags and banners to mark FC’s return to Manchester.

Members of Moston’s M404FC Group are working with both project leaders to ensure that all the young people involved in the 2 projects have an opportunity to find out more about the new stadium, and about FC.

We hope that this will be the start of an ongoing series of arts projects for FC members and local residents to enhance and personalise our new home. Once we are established at Broadhurst Park and are beginning to think about future priorities, we will be looking at the possibility of submitting a bid for funding to the Arts Council for England to deliver unique artworks which will celebrate our club, it’s achievements and communities.

If you are interested in joining a steering group to help develop ideas, please contact Robin Pye at robinpye@fc-utd.co.uk and we will let you know when discussion sessions get underway.
