FC United ready for 'biggest ever league match' against title rivals Chorley

FC United expect to have centre-back Charlie Raglan available tonight as we take on title rivals Chorley in our top of the table clash, which is being billed as our biggest ever league match.

The Reds know that a 13th consecutive league win, a club record breaking feat in one season, will put us level on points with The Magpies with a game in hand and just five matches to go.

A draw or a defeat will mean that the title is Chorley’s to lose, partly due to the fact the Lancashire side now have far superior goal difference thanks to their 13-1 triumph over relegated Droylsden at the weekend.

Whatever happens tonight though, it does look like the title race is going to go down to the wire. As such, United will want as many players available as possible, so manager Karl Marginson will be glad to have Raglan back at his disposal.

Raglan, who will join League Two Chesterfield in the summer, missed Saturday’s trip to Blyth Spartans due to undertaking a mandatory seven day rest for concussion sustained against Matlock. However, he will be available for tonight’s title showdown.

Fellow defender Adam Jones will also hope to be passed fit after being taken off early in the second half at Blyth due to receiving a knock. His replacement on Saturday, Lewis Lacy is back at the club from Trafford and he will be looking for more opportunities now that Raglan and Tom Davies are departing for full-time professional contracts.

Meanwhile, Tom Greaves will be looking to add to the 32 goals he’s already scored this season. Greaves bagged a 93th minute winner at Chorley last month and if he gets the decider again tonight he will surely go down as an FC United legend.

The stakes couldn’t be bigger for both clubs at this stage of the season. Can Margy’s men keep the title in their own hands? Find out by getting yourself to that football ground. It’s pay on the gate as usual with prices voted for by our members; £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 for under-18s.
