FC2K: Margy backs fans to achieve aimManager Karl Marginson has thrown his support behind FC United’s campaign to get 2,000 fans to each of our remaining home games at Gigg Lane click here.

Margy said: “Our supporters are always excellent and the atmosphere is great however many fans are at our games, but having 2,000 fans there makes a real difference to the noise created.

“The atmosphere we have is a real plus for the players and it also effects the opposition. Hearing 2,000 reds screaming their encouragement is an amazing lift for everyone on the pitch and it can be the difference in a tight game.

“Last week I was showing some of my college team videos from our first couple of seasons when we were regularly getting 2,000-plus and they couldn’t believe the atmosphere.

“I remember worrying at the time if the windows in the houses around Gigg Lane would be able to withstand the noise.

“To get back to that level for the remaining games we have at Gigg Lane would be a huge boost to our play-off hopes and I know our fans will rise to the challenge as they always do.

“This club is just as much about what happens off the pitch as what happens on it and the fans in the stand drive everything we do. Let’s make the push to get to games and see out our days at Bury on a successful note.???

Following an excellent reaction to the launch of FC2K, we pulled in our third best midweek crowd of the season so far against Trafford on Tuesday, despite the atrocious weather conditions.

FC were the best supported club in non-league on the night, albeit with a limited fixture list taking place. Here are the top five crowds from Tuesday:

FC United v Trafford (Northern Premier League): 1,598
Kidderminster Harriers v Dartford (Conference Premier): 1,580
Barnet v Aldershot (Conference Premier): 1,383
Macclesfield Town v Lincoln (Conference Premier): 1,364
Woking v Chester (Conference Premier): 1,124

Let’s build on that encouraging start and aim to get over 2,000 in to Gigg Lane when Nantwich visit on Saturday (kick off 3pm).
