Stewart Davies

On Saturday 11th January one of the FC family, Stewart Davies, sadly passed away unexpectedly in Wythenshawe hospital aged 59.

His friend Chris Meadows has written the following tribute:

Stewart was a regular at FC matches since the formation of our club, he rarely missed a game, be it home or away and was much loved by all his many friends at FC.

He was proud to be part of FC United, and although he was a gentleman and generally a pretty quiet character, he would take great pleasure in verbally taking apart with his sense of humour, anyone who dared to question FC’s ethics or why some of us don’t go to Old Trafford any more.

Stewart was no fan of the Premiership, and often shouted at a particular FC fan who sits near the half way line at Gigg Lane "we’re not interested", when this gentleman was announcing the scores around the Premiership grounds.

On away match trips, Stewart would always plan a visit to an aerodrome so that he could take down aircraft numbers to add to his vast collection, although his driving and navigation skills left a lot to be desired and he frequently got lost meaning an extra 50 miles on the journey and a mad rush to reach the ground in time for kick off.

It’s a great shame that Stewart won’t be joining us when we go to Moston later this year but we are certain he will have a good view of the matches from the great directors’ box in the sky (though he would have preferred a terrace).

RIP Stewart, we won’t forget you.

For all that would like to attend, Stewart’s funeral will take place at 2:40pm on Monday 27th January at Southern Cemetery Crematorium.
