FC United host Blyth Spartans and aim for play-off place

FC United host Blyth Spartans and aim for play-off placeFC United will move up to the priceless fifth place and therefore the play-off zone in the Evo-Stik Premier Division on Saturday afternoon if we can beat visitors Blyth Spartans.

The Reds put a bad October on the pitch behind us and are now unbeaten in five league games, which has seen us rocket up the table to sixth place – just three points behind Blyth. With a vastly superior goal difference than the Spartans and the teams below, a win of any score will almost certainly put FC United into fifth place on Saturday.

Manager Karl Marginson has boosted his squad for the second time in a week by signing French forward Nelson Mota from Salford City. Mota has impressed staff and supporters alike at Salford since signing at the beginning of September from Spanish third division club Atlético Sanluqueno.

After some indifferent results last month, Margy is looking forward to a winter of content and cementing a place in the play-offs. He said: “I’ve been pleased by our recent form and was happy with our performance on Tuesday night at Droylsden, with the only negative being that we didn’t convert more of the 30 shots at goal we apparently had.

“That said, it was good to see such a high level of creativity from us. The 4-1 win at Droylsden followed a decent point at Matlock on Saturday. I thought we deserved a point and it could prove to be a really crucial one as the chase for play-off places begins to really take off in the New Year.???

Get yourself to that football ground.
