MANCHESTER DAY PARADE 2013

The 4th Manchester Day Parade takes place this Sunday 2nd June, starting at 2.00 pm and finishing around 4.30 pm. The theme is “Wish You Were Here??? and for the third year running FC United have been chosen to take part.

Our float this year will be a large model of the new ground in Moston pushed and carried by supporters, along with an array of banners and flags and the giant footballer to bring a large splash of excitement and colour to our section of the Parade. Our artist has also advised that he would like some budding FC actors to play the role of construction workers on the parade as sections of the ground are carried and added to the main structure along the route through the city centre.

Many supporters have already volunteered to come along on the day to join in with us, but we would still like more to come along as some of our helpers from previous years will be in Germany with the first team. You can help out by carrying a flag, a banner or simply marching along and singing FC songs. It was agreed by almost every FC fan who has taken part over the last two years that it is a fantastic occasion and a proud day to represent the Club. Up to 75,000 spectators are expected to be lining the streets.

Every volunteer is asked to wear a red top (FC 1st team shirt if possible – any version) and black bottoms. We will meet up on Liverpool Road just up from the Science Museum from 12.30 to 1.00 pm. The top of Liverpool Road meets Deansgate opposite the Hilton Hotel. Please email
promotions@fc-utd.co.uk if you have any queries.

The Parade route starts at the junction of Liverpool Road and Deansgate, going down past Kendals, right at St Mary’s Gate to the bottom of Market Street, right at Cross Street, past the Town Hall, right at Peter Street and then left back along Deansgate to the finish. Full details can be found here

If you are unable to volunteer then please come along on the day and cheer us on in the crowds along the route. The weather forecast for Sunday at the moment is looking favourable …….
