Play Off Final Date Confirmation

The play off final between Hednesford Town and FC United will take place on Saturday 11th May at Keys Park, kick off 3pm, entry will be by payment at the turnstiles.

FC United have been in discussions with the League regarding the arrangements for any possible play off matches away from home since it was confirmed that our club was guaranteed a play-off spot. Following our discussions and leaving it as late as possible the League wrote to all 6 clubs that could be involved in the play-offs asking them to consider the match arrangements if they were to host FC United. We would like to thank the League for being proactive with this matter and we should bear in mind and respect that most clubs are either part time or work on a voluntary basis.

Although the play-off final date has been published to take place on Friday 10th May, the League have said that if both clubs can agree the final can take place on Saturday 11th May.

Hednesford Town contacted FC United asking for our thoughts on moving the match from a Friday to Saturday. The final league positions were only known on Saturday May 4th, at that time Hednesford Town confirmed the following information:

That due to traffic management issues as well as a pre-booked function the capacity would be restricted and FC United would only be given 500 tickets for the match.

We witnessed the traffic management issues at the end of our game at Keys Park this season and FC United club officials faced the double jeopardy of fans being seriously inconvenienced by the restricted ticketing proposal for the Friday night, with the distinct likelihood that many fans who had already made arrangements could not get tickets regardless and fans being inconvenienced by moving the game to the Saturday. The decision to accept the game being moved to Saturday was therefore not taken lightly and made using the criteria already highlighted here.

By moving the game more supporters can attend and there would be no ticketing issues, we recognise that some fans will be inconvenienced but it will be more convenient for more of our supporters to travel on a Saturday rather than on a Friday night.

We apologise to supporters for the inconvenience that has been caused but due to the poor weather and season extension as well as the tight league finish it has been difficult to make arrangements in advance.
