Reds raring to go in Witton play-off semi-final

FC United have a clean bill of health, other than Adam Jones, ahead of Tuesday’s Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off semi-final against Witton Albion and manager Karl Marginson says everyone is confident mood.

Margy says that he has been left with one of the biggest selection headaches of his career but that Tuesday’s game is the sort of occasion that everybody at the club wants to be involved with football for.

It’s the third consecutive season that FC United have made it through to the play-offs and Margy is hoping it will be third time lucky. He said: "It promises to be a great occasion. Other than Jonesy, we have a full squad and my team selection is as clear as dish water right now.

"We have to credit the lads for getting us into a position where we had secured our play-off spot early. They were asked serious questions when we had a blip a couple of months ago, and they have answered them.

"This early qualification allowed us to give everyone a chance to stake a claim for a spot in tonight’s team. They have all taken it and some of the performances we have seen, in the past two games, really do provide me with a huge headache. The team have not switched off, despite securing a play-off place, and that means we come into the match on a winning run, which obviously helps us mentally.

"It’s the strongest squad we have had to date and therefore it provides us our best chance of winning at this stage. Witton Albion will see it otherwise and they have already been here and won this season, which will be a big factor in their build up. They have showed they can raise their game for big matches, but I honestly think the only times we have been undone this season have been of our own making. If we play as we can and don’t make silly mistakes, we can beat everybody in this league."

FC United versus Witton Albion is this Tuesday, 7.45pm at Gigg Lane with prices voted for by our members - £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 under-18s. Get yourself to that football ground.
