Striker Tom Greaves signs for FC United

Striker Tom Greaves signs for FC UnitedFC United Manager Karl Marginson boosted his playing squad last night by signing striker Tom Greaves from Bradford Park Avenue of the Conference North.

Coming hot on the heels of winger Astley Mulholland’s return to the club, Greaves’ signing is a further signal of intent by Margy as the Reds start their new year promotion push.

Greaves, 27, rejoined BPA for a second spell in 2010 from Garforth Town where he scored 28 goals in the 2009-10 season. He originally played for Avenue’s first team between 2004-2007 after stepping up from the reserves before he moved on to Guiseley, Woodley Sports, Bridlington and then Ossett Town in the summer of 2008.

Greaves is well regarded at BPA and infamously, for FC fans, he scored the winning goal against the Reds in the play-off final last season to secure Bradford’s promotion.

Commenting on the signing, Margy said: "Tom Greaves is a player who will excite our supporters. He brings us extra support up front which we need and will be a valuable addition to the squad as we enter the business end of the season."
