A Taste for Moston

To celebrate our moving to Moston, more than a (baker’s) dozen of catering establishments and bakers in the north of the city have been invited to create a special Moston bun, pattie, tart or cake to rival the famous Eccles Cake and Manchester Tart. The "buns" will be made available and judged in the Social Club before the match on September 15th, which has been declared as the club’s North Manchester Day.

Four establishments have made the Bake-Off. They are the Maracuja Anglo-African co-operative http://www.maracuja.coop offering a spicy pattie, Moston Miners Club , long-standing FC supporters, Newman’s of Radcliffe http://www.newmansofradcliffe.co.uk and Moston Lane’s very own Howarths bakery.

Amongst the judges will be FC Club Nutritionist, Helen Walker, whose job is to assist our players in having a healthy diet, M40 4FC food connoisseur, Carol Wheeler and FC Board member, Mike Sherrard The bakers have been asked to make as many as they feel appropriate and will provide some as tasters for fans in the Social Club, to give their opinions.

This event is intended to not only be fun but also a promotional opportunity for local bakers and their products. If we can find local products that appeal to our fans when they attend matches in Moston this could provide a boost for local business, and our club will be very proud if it is involved in a successful Moston Bun, Moston Cake, Moston Pattie or even a Moston Vegan!

So, enjoy the Moston Bake-Off in the Social Club and do send us your feed-back so we can let the bakers know your thoughts.
