Hednesford 2-1 FC United It was third time unlucky for FC United on Saturday afternoon as the Reds lost the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off final 2-1 away to Hednesford Town in a closely fought match
United found themselves 2-0 down after a disappointing first half, and despite a good second half fight back the Reds couldn’t find a way through and suffered defeat at the final hurdle for the third season running. Jerome Wright to return to FC United next season
Jerome Wright will return to FC United next season after signing for the club this weekend. Jerome’s signing adds to the signings that manager Karl Marginson has already made for the new campaign and which were announced on this website previously. Karl commented: "I’m delighted that Jerome is returning to the club as a player of his quality strengthens the squad. I’m really pleased with the way that things are coming together for next season. Pre-season training starts in a couple of weeks and the lads already meeting up regularly for five-a-side. To have the majority of last season’s squad confirmed already gives us a great platform and will allow for early preparation for the new season ahead. We’ve not had this stability in a squad going into a new season for a number of years and it’s really encouraging and exciting to see." Karl continued: "I’m delighted that these players have signed on for another year and have demonstrated their commitment to our club. It shows that they really get what FC is all about that they want to be part of it for another year at least. I know that the fans will appreciate that commitment as much as I know the players appreciate the fans and the magnificent support they give them week-in, week-out." With a new ground on the horizon, Margy feels that we are building something special at FC and he wants the strongest possible playing squad at his disposal. "I still have one or two other players to talk to about next year and I hope that we can secure their services for next season," he said. "As we know, this is a very hard league to get out of and we’ll need quality players on the pitch to win promotion. Jerome’s return to FC, where he’s played his best football, is a big boost to the club and will strengthen the squad no end," Karl said. |
