We’re very pleased to announce that FC United will play a friendly against
Macclesfield Town on Saturday 4 August 2012. Many FC United fans will have bittersweet memories of the last time we played at their Moss Rose ground, which was a 5-0 win in a cup game against New Mills that was held on the same day as George Best’s funeral, on 3 December 2005.
This is planned to be Macclesfield Town’s only home friendly this pre-season, so it should be a fantastic day out with a large home crowd. FC United’s Manager, Karl Marginson and Head of Player Development, Darren Lyons have both played for Macclesfield Town, so it will be a keenly anticipated game for them.
FC United would like to give our grateful thanks to Colwyn Bay, who kindly agreed to rearrange a game we’d planned against them, in order to allow Macclesfield Town to schedule two friendlies against both FC United and Colwyn Bay. We didn’t then have any dates left on which we could play Colwyn Bay, so we owe them a favour and we’ll probably take a trip there next pre-season. Or maybe not, because we’re hoping to have been promoted to their league by then!
Further details of the game will be published nearer the time.
