Hednesford 2-1 FC United It was third time unlucky for FC United on Saturday afternoon as the Reds lost the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off final 2-1 away to Hednesford Town in a closely fought match
United found themselves 2-0 down after a disappointing first half, and despite a good second half fight back the Reds couldn’t find a way through and suffered defeat at the final hurdle for the third season running. FC United Women 0-1 Mcr City FC United’s women’s team lost the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League Cup Final by the narrowest of margins to a 46th minute strike from Manchester City’s Ellen Bergin to bring the curtain down on a fantastic first season despite the result. Roy Soule leaves FC United
It has been agreed today that Roy Soule will not be returning as assistant manager for FC United when the new season starts. FC United manager, Karl Marginson, explained: "Roy Soule has been a tremendous help to me over the years, both in his recent role as my assistant and previously when he was based in America and used to help me out on his visits home. However, I’ve got fresh plans to take the squad forward, so I’ve made the tough decision to let Roy go." Margy continued: "Souley has been a firm favourite with the fans, so I know many people around the club will be sad to see him leave, but I suppose the simplest explanation is the old phrase ’footballing differences’ and I have decided that it is the right time to let Souley move on. For now, I’m planning not to have an assistant next season, because we’ve got enough cover with the rest of the coaching team, Chuks, Daz and Chappy*." (*That’s First Team Coach, Chuks Akuneto; Head of Player Development, Darren Lyons and Goalkeeping Coach, Paul Chappell) Everyone at FC United would like to thank Roy for all his hard work and commitment to the club and wishes him the best of luck for the future. |
