PLAYER UPDATE: Close season sees signings and departures

The start of the close season has seen a flurry of activity at FC United as more players are confirmed for next season and others leave for pastures new.

The latest player to sign up for the 2012/13 campaign is Dean Stott, who signed on the dotted line straight after the Great Manchester Run last Sunday. Dean joins a list of players who signed up for next year in April. They are as follows: -

Carlos Roca

Michael Norton

Manager Karl Marginson said: "I’m really pleased that Dean has signed on for another year. Like others who have committed their future to FC, he is a key player for us and really gets what the club is about."

Leaving the club are Greg Stones and Richard Battersby. Greg is moving to Welsh Premier side Prestatyn, while Richard will play next season at Radcliffe Borough. Richard said: "I would like to thank everyone at FC United for the last two seasons. The club helped me through a difficult time personally when my fiancee Jenna passed away and I will always remember your support and how kind and thoughtful FC were to me. I would like to wish everyone at the club all the best for an exciting future that lies ahead. All the best to everyone.’’

Greg’s move to a club nearer to where he lives is not totally unexpected and Richard should get more first team football at Radcliffe. Commenting on the moves, manager Karl Marginson said: "I’d like to thank both Richard and Greg for all they’ve done for FC and wish them the very best of luck for the future. Both have done well for the club and made a lot of friends both on and off the pitch."

As the summer progresses, Margy will continue to speak to those players yet to be signed up for next year while trying out others who might be with us next season. As and when we have anything to report, we’ll inform supporters via the website.
