The League have announced this evening that Northwich Victoria will not be allowed to participate in this season’s play offs.
The announcement on the League website reads:
NORTHWICH VICTORIA
Following a hearing on Friday 13th April 2012 Northwich Victoria Football Club have been found guilty of failing to comply with League Rules 2.9.2, 2.9.3 and 14 b 4 relating to financial matters.
The membership of the Northern Premier League has been terminated with effect from the end of the current playing season and the club will not be allowed to participate in this seasons promotion play-offs.’
NVFC are expected to lodge an appeal with the FA against the League decision. Any appeal will have to be heard before the play offs could be played meaning that there is the distinct possibility that the play offs will be delayed by at least a week.
Vics are firmly in the top five places in the league. If the appeal was to fail and the League decision was to stand FC United believes that the play off qualification places would extend to sixth place.
The events change nothing for FC United, we remain focused on finishing the season in the top five.
This is however a very sad and worrying time for everyone connected with Northwich Victoria Football Club, a club with a long and proud history and we extend our sympathies to all Vics fans.
