Goalkeeper sells eggs for Make a Difference Week

FC United members have been busy this week supporting Make a Difference Week, our Development Fund initiative that’s getting people involved in giving their time to do something to raise funds for the club. Some have described it as a kind of adult ’bob-a-job’ week, but whatever it is; people are donating their time to raise cash for FC.

Member Glyn Williams’ contribution was raising £35 from selling homemade flapjacks, muffins and chocolate brownies to colleagues at work and washing two neighbours’ cars. Meanwhile, board member Chris Hammond will be buying a month’s supply of eggs from FC United goalkeeper and amateur farmer James Spencer - a tidy £25 will be going to the DF from that.

FC general manager Andy Walsh is also getting in on the act. "I have a number of items that I have been meaning to get rid of for a while and this initiative has prompted me to do something about it so I’ve decided to stick them on ebay," he said. Nice one Andy.

We’ve heard of supporters doing gardening for neighbours, baking cakes to sell, painting and decorating, and even selling rhubarb from their allotment. In fact, you might have seen sticks of the stuff being sold by Brian Pendlebury at the membership stall before the Buxton game. Rhubarb for the DF though, who’d have thought it?

It’s time for our new ground - so give a little time for it!
