Margy jealous of players' spicy Marine trip

FC United manager Karl Marginson is looking forward to tomorrow’s trip to Marine so much his only disappointment is that he won’t be able to play in the match.

With United and Marine both competing for a play-off place, a history of hard fought close games against each other and traditional Manchester-Liverpool rivalry thrown in for good measure, Margy admits that it’s got all the makings of a ’spicy’ encounter that he would love to play in.

He said: "I welcome the rivalry between two great clubs, it adds a bit of spice to the occasion. The players are very lucky, I wish I was playing tomorrow."

Margys says the team will be looking to build on last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Frickley Athletic at Gigg Lane, which he sees as a point gained due to coming from 2-0 down to grab a last minute equaliser.

"There wasn’t a great deal we could do about their goals, a penalty and a wonder strike but we showed great character and mental toughness to keep going and get a draw. There are plenty of teams who would have thrown the towel in on a day like that, especially considering how many chances went begging."

FC United have scored plenty of important last minute goals since 2005 and Margy believes that is down to every single person at the club. He said: "That mental toughness and will to win comes from everyone at the club. The players have that belief in them, as coaches we try to instill that belief and then of course the supporters are amazing, it feels like they’re sucking the ball into the net."

The Reds have virtually a full strength squad with just fullbacks Paul Armstrong missing through injury and Lee Neville serving the final game of his suspension.

Get yourself to that football ground.
