Boxing Day is Big Coat Day...

Preparations are well underway to make our Boxing Day derby against Ashton United a very Big Coat Day. Supporters and the general public are once again called upon to help the homeless and destitute get through the cold winter months.

Any reasonable quality winter clothing can be brought to Gigg Lane between 12 noon and 2.55pm where it will be collected by Mustard Tree to the upbeat tunes of an FC Brass Band. Those that cannot get to Gigg Lane are asked to notify the club and we will make arrangements for collections.

The club is currently putting together a youtube video promoting the event. Among the stars in the viral will be the actors playing Corrie’s Eileen Grimshaw, her new ’love interest’ Paul, the fireman, and Hayley Cropper, also Johnny Vegas, Justin Moorhouse, James Quinn and John Henshaw.

Already supporting the event are employees at British Aerospace. Jobcentreplus management, Newman’s bakeries and Parkinsons’ the builders are collecting whilst Bury FC and Ashton United have agreed to promote the collection, whilst Manchester’s University and College Union are contacting all their members.

Meanwhile, anyone with time to watch ITV’s breakfast programme, Daybreak, may have noticed that they are running a ’new’ initiative - a donate-a-coat campaign encouraging viewers to send spare winter coats to the Salvation Army, who participated in our first two Big Coat Days....where FC goes, others follow....
