FC United supports Blue September

FC United is pleased to join forces with five other local football clubs to support Blue September and the Greater Manchester Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

Assistant manager Roy Soule recently joined players and representatives from Bury, Oldham Athletic, Rochdale, Salford City and Stockport County to show our support for both campaigns by donning blue face-paint and posing for the above photo.

Blue September is a campaign created to get the message out about cancer in men. It aims to raise awareness among UK men and women about all the cancers that can affect men.

Greater Manchester Bowel Cancer Screening aims to detect bowel cancer at an early stage in people with no symptoms, when treatment is more likely to be effective. The programme offers screening every two years to all men and women aged 60 to 69.

Louise Robbins from Greater Manchester Network of Sport and Health said: “I’m delighted that so many sports clubs have come together to support Blue September. Greater Manchester is only too happy to help deliver key health messages to audiences that are often untapped by the health sector.”

Soule said: “People’s health is as important as it gets. We were happy to be asked to highlight both the campaigns, even if it did mean turning blue for a few minutes.”
