In '77 it was Docherty...

Following Saturday’s dramatic draw at The Withdean against Brighton & Hove Albion, FC United would like to encourage Reds to arrive extra early for the replay at Gigg Lane to get the party started.

We expect a bigger than normal crowd on the night for a game in which FC will once again be massive underdogs. We’d like to ask that supporters get into Gigg Lane 45-60 minutes before kick-off to begin celebrating the achievements of the team and the club this season.

Karl and the lads will need their 12th man more than ever against Gus Poyet’s League One leaders so let’s make sure that everyone’s vocal chords are warmed up by the time the team run out.

Our extended run in the FA Cup and the recent announcement that our planning application for Ten Acres Lane was approved by Manchester City Council are two very good reasons to get there early to lift the roof off Gigg Lane.

FC United’s resident DJ will be getting things going from 7pm, playing music requested by supporters (email developmentfund@fc-utd.co.uk) before handing over to you lot to welcome the teams onto the pitch.

Although we know that you don’t need much encouragement, please bring as much colour and noise with you as you can. It will be a huge night for FC United, especially with a home tie against 2008 winners and 2010 finalists Portsmouth awaiting the winners.

Please also spare a thought for our volunteer turnstile operators. With a bumper crowd expected, the sooner supporters come through the turnstiles, the quicker our volunteers are able to count up and make their way into the ground to join you in the stands.
