Margy???s mix of youth and experience to face Oldham Borough

FC United will play a friendly against Oldham Borough on Thursday and manager Karl Marginson has confirmed he will field a mixture of first team and youth team players against the North West Counties Football League Division One side.

The Reds will be hoping to continue their winning start to the pre-season campaign after thrashing Sutton Town 4-0 on Saturday but it is likely to be with several players who didn’t feature at the weekend.

Ben Deegan and Jamie Mack could be leading the attack after sitting out the trip to Nottinghamshire whilst captain David Chadwick is set to return to the heart of defence where he could partner Nick Swirad or Mark Ayres who are both in the squad after being on the bench for Saturday’s game.

Right-back Kyle Jacobs and midfielder James Holden have also been named in the squad with goalkeeper Grant Shenton and FC United’s new central midfield signing from Glossop North End, Daniel Browne completing the list of first team players expected to play.

Youth team manager, Chuks Akuneto and head of player development, Darren Lyons will be making recommendations to Margy about which youngsters will be available to make the step up to face the team formerly known as Oldham Town.

Kick off will be 7.30pm this Thursday at Whitebank Stadium, White Bank Road, Oldham, OL8 3JH. Admission will be £5 adults. Concession and junior prices will be available but the price information hasn’t been supplied yet.
