Trio

A trio of new players have signed on for the club ahead of the New Year’s Day clash with Ossett Town.

Right-back and midfielder Kyle Jacobs has signed from UniBond Premier Division rivals Kendal Town, attacking midfielder Adriano ’Celi’ Rigoglioso has joined from Colwyn Bay and goalkeeper William Jones has joined from UniBond Division One South side Stamford AFC.

Manager Karl Marginson welcomed all three to the club and thanked assistant manager Roy Soule for his tireless efforts over the last two weeks getting the players to sign on.

Margy said: "We are always looking to add quality players to the squad and these three lads are all going to improve things. Kyle Jacobs is a strong tackling full back who can play elsewhere in the defence and in midfield too. With Danny Warrender’s injury proving a problem and needing a scan we badly need cover and Kyle was keen to move back to Manchester.

"With Grant Shenton leaving, Will Jones gives us cover for Sam (Ashton). We were sad to see Grant go because he is a great prospect but he needed to get some games under his belt for the next stage of his development and is now at Salford City.

"Will is most welcome and working with Sam and Joe Paladino will help improve things all round in the goalkeeping department.

"It was Joe who first brought his cousin Adriano or ’Celi’ to our attention, we had to put in seven days notice to Colwyn Bay before contacting the player and the rest was down to Roy Soule’s persistence.

"He has been offered a lot of money to go elsewhere but he liked what he heard about the club from Roy and Joe so as soon as his international clearance came through late on Thursday night he signed for us."

Margy explained why he was particular keen to bring in the 30-year-old former Liverpool trainee who has played League football with Doncaster Rovers and Conference football with Morecambe and Forest Green Rovers:

"We have identified the lack of height in our midfield as a bit of a weakness but we had to wait for the right player to come along. Celi has bags of experience at Conference level and I am confident that he will be a belting addition to the squad."

Margy is still on the look out for more players. He said: "I’ve always got my eye out for players coming available who can improve the squad and there may be a couple more to come. We want to kick on now in 2010 and get up the right end of the table.

"Souley has been on the phone non-stop for the last few weeks finding players he has worked with and speaking with coaches he knows in the game so there may be a couple more signings to come yet."
