Wright out for Reds

FC United get back to league action by hosting Kendal Town on Saturday but they will have to do so without influential winger Jerome Wright who must serve a one game ban.

Wright picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 1-0 defeat to Buxton which will leave manager Karl Marginson with a dilemma as whether to play someone on the left wing or possibly go for three in midfield.

Simon Garner is once again available after serving a similar ban last weekend and Danny Warrender is back in contention after making a 20 minute appearance as a substitute in the FA Carlsberg Trophy defeat to Harrogate Town.

Midfielder Jake Cottrell should also be fit after shaking off a groin strain that kept him out last Saturday but Simon Carden will hope to keep his place in the starting line-up after scoring both United’s goals in their ultimately unsuccessful late rally against Harrogate.

United are desperate to get back up the league table and can easily do so if they win their games in hand. However, Saturday’s match will be a tough fixture. Kendal currently sit in seventh place but if they win their three games in hand over leaders Boston, the Cumbria side will go back to the top of the table where they were just a few weeks ago.

The two teams have played each other three times now and The Field, as they are known to many of their supporters, have the upper-hand winning twice to FC United’s once. In this fixture last season the visitors ran out comfortable 3-1 winners with Carl Osman - younger brother of Everton’s Leon - scoring two of the goals. United will do well to keep him at bay this time around.

Marginson’s side know they can get the better of their opponents though and did just that in February; winning 2-1 with a great performance at the Lakeland Radio Stadium with first half goals from Wright and Simon Carden.

FC United of Manchester versus Kendal Town is this Saturday at 3 O’clock. It’s pay on the gate with entrance priced £7.50 adults, £5 concessions and £2 under-18s. Get yourself to that football ground.
