On December 3rd 1984 a huge cloud of poison 500 times more toxic than cyanide spewed from a factory belonging to Union Carbide Corporation. For the Bhopalis this has come to mean 25 years of unimaginable suffering, an injustice that has never been righted, crimes that continue to go unpunished, and a community that most of the world has forgotten.

The Bhopal Medical Appeal became FC United’s first main club sponsor, using the club’s matchday programme to tell a whole new audience about Bhopal. Supporters responded with collections of cash and kit. Outfits for two complete teams were collected by the charity KitAid and were sent to Bhopal where a new club FC United of Bhopal was formed to give children the chance to play, have fun and learn how to be part of a team.
