FC United & The Manchester College

FC United of Manchester and The Manchester College

The Manchester College are a key community partner with FC United of Manchester. This partnership has now been in place for 3 years and continues to use both education and football as key attributes in achieving successful outcomes. In that time both parties have shared their vision for engaging young players into The Manchester College Football Academy and providing a player pathway into FC United of Manchester. The Manchester College and the club have also developed links through a range of community programmes that engage local students looking to progress into Further Education. This work is vital to engaging with both the college’s and the club’s local communities.

Karl Margison and FC United Coaching Staff such as Chucks Akuneto, who are also employed at the college, play a key role in moving the partnership forward by identifying players that have the ability to progress into non-league football. Already the college have many fine examples of players that have gone through the ranks from the college teams to the FC United U18’s, and are now pushing for selection into the FC United First Team. We think that this is great progress and an example of the opportunities that both the college and club can provide to young players.

The Manchester College has also supported the club in providing an excellent training base for players and staff at the Nicholls Football Centre.

Football Conference Youth Alliance North Division

The Manchester College First Team plays as FC United in the Football Conference Youth Alliance North Division where they compete against other colleges that have a direct link with a non-league football club. The league is a development league for young players that are looking to make the step into first team football. It provides college players with a great football education and experience against competitive and respected clubs.
