When three legs better than two?

Are three legs better than two? That’s the view of mother and daughter team Gail and Ellie Frampton who plan to run the Minithon three-legged and set up the three-legged world record for the first mile of the Minithon. Want to challenge them? Or you can simply, run, walk or crawl to raise money for the club and Medequip4kids.http://www.medequip4kids.org.uk/events.asp?id=437

Run, walk or crawl, all supporters are being called on to support the FC United-Medequip Minithon Run & Fun Day on Sunday, October 18th. The main event of the day is the 5.8km fun run or crawl around Chorlton Meadows. The aim of this joint event is to raise both funds for the club and Medequip4kids.

Boru, the Labrador remains the hot favourite with £190 already raised on

Chased by Steven Wood on £154 and Rochdale Hornets’, Wallter Tann on £95, the kit manager’s old dog seems determined to smash his own Minithon world record when he drags Daniel Selvidge around the course.

If every supporter gets involved, and as soon as possible, we can easily surpass the £18,000 just 100 participants raised for the club and Medequip last year and show that FC leads the way in contributing to the community.

Just to add spice this time round, we have challenged fellow co-operative Rochdale Hornets rugby club to see who can raise the most money, and they will join us for the start at 12 noon on Chorlton Green

All entrants are being asked to get sponsored by their friends, workmates, employers, and their local landlords and landladies. Half of the monies raised will go to club funds with the other half going to Medequip, which provides hospital equipment for children.

The Minithon will be followed by refreshments provided by Churchill Foods and relaxation at the nearby Chorlton Irish Club with live bands, music and entertainment.

The biggest news so far is that Looking for Eric star, Steve Evets, will be on the run and James Quinn from TV comedy series, Early Doors, will be coming down to entertain us. Margy and several many players will be on the run as will most of the FC Board members. So get on board, and if you can’t be there, please help other supporters to raise sponsorship, and make sure we beat the Hornets mob with their balls that bounce so peculiarly.

For those who are participating there will be prizes not only for the fastest adult and junior runners but also for the best adult and junior fancy dress and once again the fastest pet and owner.

And world records are there to be broken. Current world record fund raiser for the Minithon is Board member, Scott Fletcher, who clawed in £1890 last year followed by General Manager, Andy Walsh (£925). Kit Manager, George Hayden’s dog, Boru, currently holds two world records - for highest fund raising pet (£300) and fastest pet dragging a human around the course.

However it is speedster, Christopher Small who holds the world record for the course (19 mins), as does Simon Garner for fastest FC player. Leanne Carey (27 mins) is currently the fastest female in the history of the Minithon, whilst Patrick Walsh, remains the world champion junior with his Billy-Whizz time of 20 minutes.

Otherwise the money you raise may not be accredited to FC.
