United slay Swedes

A brace from Nicky Platt and a third from Jamie Baguley gave FC United a 3-1 victory against Djurgardens IF Fotboll All Stars at the Olympiastadion in Stockholm on Friday night.

Platt got the opening goal 10 minutes before half-time and the young midfielder doubled the Reds’ lead just before the hour mark.

Djurgardens got on the scoresheet minutes later but any hopes the hosts had of getting back into the game were dashed within five minutes as Baguley sealed victory by netting the third. By mutual agreement the second half was reduced to 30 minutes due to player fatigue.

The game was contested in a good spirit with lots of players getting chance to play and even FC United manager Karl Marginison had a run out in the second half in front of 560 supporters.

Djurgarden starting line up not known and they used rolling subs throughout the game. Some players made more than one appearance including Paul Lindholm who played centre forward during the first half and returned to the game later in the second half as the goalkeeper.
