FC United Golf Day and Sporting Dinner
FC United are staging a very special combined ’Golf Day and Sporting Dinner’ on Thursday 30th April 2009. We hope to make this a really great day and evening. The proceeds will go towards club funds. So why not fly the flag and get on the green.
The venue, Bury Golf Club, is a magnificent 18 hole par 69 semi-moorland course is not long at 5888 yards, but is considered to be a very good test of golf. There are 4 par 3’s, the 1st, 10th 14th and 17th. The 17th being a superb 110 yard par 3 playing to a plateau green possibly considered to be Bury’s signature hole. The 9th is the only par 5 on the course, a severe left hand dogleg, the position of the drive being vital if the longer hitters want to try for the green in 2, be very careful though of the out of bounds on the left.
The course has improved dramatically over the last few years and is an absolute pleasure to play, every hole is different, how ever many times you play it is never boring and requires a different approach dependant on wind and weather conditions. There will be soup and sandwiches on arrival and we will be having a ’Shotgun Start’ and all teams will tee off at 1pm.
Each team will consist of four people, and the cost per team will be £225 +VAT. FC United have the course for the day and can accommodate a total of 20 teams, this will be decided on a first come first served basis with payment upfront, so please hurry in your applications. Individuals can also apply at a cost of £65 per person, including VAT.
You may also wish to sponsor the longest drive or nearest the pin. Players of any handicap can take part, but they will only be given a maximum handicap of 20 for the purposes of the competition.
After your round of golf, at around 7pm, we will sit down to dinner and then be entertained by a guest comedian and prize presentations. We will have a wide variety of team and individual prizes.
