Wilson hoping for play-off comeback

FC United’s top scorer Kyle Wilson is hoping to make a first team comeback at the end of April if the Reds make it into the play-offs after finally being booked in for a minor knee operation.

United have also been boosted by Dave Neville returning to training just four weeks after breaking his ankle in the 2-1 victory at Kendal Town.

On Monday, Kyle was told by specialists at the Wirral’s Arrowe Park hospital that a scan has revealed he has an articular cartilage tear on the back of his knee and he will undergo keyhole surgery a week on Tuesday - 31st March - to correct the problem.

A few weeks of physiotherapy will follow and he could be fit enough to play competitive football in four weeks. Kyle said: "It’s a massive relief to finally know what the problem is. It’s not that bad an injury so hopefully if everything goes well and we get in the play-offs there’s a slight chance I might be able to play in them. That’s what I’m aiming for."??

Meanwhile, Dave Neville said: "I’ve always been a quick healer and now I’m back in training, I’m looking forward to getting my fitness back and helping the team get into the play-off places."??
