Chadwick blow ahead of Bamber Bridge

FC United have been dealt a major blow ahead of tonight’s play-off semi-final match against Bamber Bridge with the news that captain David Chadwick is a ’big doubt’ to be fit in time.

Chaddy strained a hamstring in the 1-1 draw with Woodley Sports last Wednesday and manager Karl Marginson admits that he is unlikely to recover in time for tonight’s vital clash.

However, Margy refused to be downbeat about the situation. He said: "We’ll do what we’ve been doing all season; find someone else to fill the void. Adam Turner’s been doing fantastically in the reserves and we have Micah Bleau as well, so we have options."??

The only other absentees are both the Howards; Josh and Bradley. Josh is still out with a broken toe and left-back Bradley is serving a suspension that he incurred whilst playing Sunday football before joining the club. Shaun Roscoe will slot straight into the team in his absence.

Margy knows that Brig have caused the Reds problems in the league this year; inflicting a 3-0 defeat and holding them to two draws, nil-nil and
2-2. However, he is confident tonight will be different. He said: "In the first game we were well below par. I’m not being harsh but in hindsight some of those players weren’t up to the task.

"The second game at their place was really close and I thought we just edged it. How their keeper saved Rory Patterson’s free-kick I don’t know. At our place, it was two individual errors that cost us; Jamie Baguley got caught out in an unfamiliar position and Rob Nugent, who’s normally always reliable, missed his tackle. If you cut those two errors out we win 2-0."??

Margy has clear instructions for his players tonight: "We’ve got to get the ball down, have the confidence to play football and get the ball to feet. With all due respect, I don’t think they’ve got a lot of pace at the back. We’ll be aiming to get the two big lads out of the centre and drag them out where they’re not as comfortable."??

And ever the Manchester United fan, he added: "We’ve got options out-wide with Jerome, Jamie Baguley and I think Adam Carden’s put in some really good performances recently. So we’ll be looking to get down the wings and use our pace. Hopefully, we’ll provide more of the same from last night."??
