United face changes at the back

Goalkeeping coach Phil Priestly could stand in for Sam Ashton during this Saturday’s crucial clash against Bradford Park Avenue as the young shot stopper is struggling to shake off a knee injury sustained in last week’s defeat at Bamber Bridge.

The Reds could also hand a debut to centre-back Danny Jarrett who has recently arrived from Northwich Victoria as Rob Nugent is unavailable through suspension. The former Southport defender is fighting for a place at the back along with veteran Dave Brown and Colin Bell.

As well as a selection headache for Saturday, FC United have been left sweating about news on club captain David Chadwick who may be out for longer than first feared.

Despite the injury setbacks, manager Karl Marginson was fully focused on the task in hand. He said: "I just want the lads to go out there against Bradford and perform and show a bit of spirit. When things are going against you you’ve got to tough it out, stick in there and go and win the battle."

And he added: "We’ve got a lot of good footballers but sometimes you’ve got to see the rougher side of the game."??
