FC Futsal

The FC United Youth Team compete in the Manchester Futsal league every Monday evening at Salford Sports Village and are more than holding their own amongst more experienced and established teams.

Nearly half way through the first season, the youth are in a respectable position in league and getting to grips with the game which was born on the beaches of Brazil.

Futsal provides a platform to improve technically gifted and exciting players. No other game explores the skill, energy and fitness required to beat players and show the flair, drive and ball manipulation that can leave the opponent standing.

Futsal is a five-a-side game, normally played on a slightly larger pitch with hockey-sized goals and a size four ball with a reduced bounce. It is played to touchlines and all players are free to enter the penalty area and play the ball over head height.

As a small-sided game players are constantly placed in situations where they must receive or play whilst under pressure or in confined spaces. As a game it places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.

The concept of Futsal seems also to be having a positive impact on the Youths 11 a side team, there recent results may be a testament to that.

With the league running to late January, the Youth team are still in with a chance to compete at the top end of the league.

So, if your not doing anything on a Monday evening, pop down to Salford Sports village, and watch a game that has a shot on goal on average every two minutes, a game that is non stop excitement from the first to the last whistle, and lastly, but more importantly, a game where you can support a youth team player wearing the FC United shirt.
