Injury setback for Spencer

Central midfielder Steve Spencer is taking some time out of football due to a persistent injury problem but will continue to be a registered player at FC United with the hope that he will be able to play again in the not too distant future.

Spencer, who was the scorer of the club’s first ever competitive goal, opening our account in the North West Counties Football League against Leek CSOB in August 2005, has been something of an unsung hero in the side. But the former Sheffield United youth team captain won the accolade of players’ player of the season in the inaugural campaign and manager Karl Marginson has found the 26-year-old Wythenshawe lad to be extremely dependable.

Margy said: "Spenner’s been a great servant to the club, giving his all week-in, week-out. We all hope that his injury problems can settle down and that he’ll be back playing for us as soon as possible."
